This is what happens when you switch off a circuit with a couple hundred thousand volts. It doesn't break easily.

For those who care: If you look closely it appears that this was a 3-phase connection, but one phase was still energized. The arc is maintained because of the plasma path through the air. But the plasma is rather hot and it keeps rising until eventually the path is just too long to support a continuous arc. Well at least that's how I understand it.

This one is with all three phases energized.

I believe the little rods that flap up are used to keep the arc from damaging the main contacts. The arc zaps onto the flaps, which can then be replaced later on.

Mentos and Diet Coke are a pretty cool mix. Apparently this was shown on Letterman back in 1999 but it has really caught on only recently. Reg and I have tried it and it works.

Here's a basic example of mentos and diet coke...

Now if you put the lid on before it fizzes up, you create a lot of pressure, which can be turned into a rocket, like so...

Here is the world's biggest mentos geyser...the beginning is boring but the end is cool.

Perception of Beauty

There have been a few things challenging my perception of beauty. This video is one of them.

The other thing changing my perception of beauty is just coming to the realization that inner beauty makes or breaks outer beauty. I have at least one friend that is outwardly fairly plain, but once you get to know them, they are beautiful. It can work the opposite way too, citing Paris Hilton as my example of a beautiful looking person made ugly by their horrible personality. My blog, my opinions. It's just so weird to me that beauty can be so subjective.
